Noise at Work

UK & EU Noise at Work Regulations

If you are working to the UK Control of Noise at Work Regulations or the EU Physical Agents (Noise) Directive, the Leq View gives you the information that you need.

The LAeq and LCPeak values are measured at the same time which allow the LEP,d (LEX,8h) and the Peak Action Levels to be determined.

The LCeq-LAeq (C-A) value is also measured which can be used to select PPE using the HML method. LAE is also measured along with LZPeak for regulations that use this rather than LCPeak.

OSHA, MSHA & other regulations

If you need to meet regulations such as OSHA HC & NC, MSHA HC or ACGIH, the two "virtual" noise meters in the Dose View can be quickly configured to provide you with this information.

The Quick Setup gives access to a number of preset functions including OSHA HC & NC, OSHA HC & ACGIH and MSHA HC & EC.

The custom settings can be used to choose any other setup or configuration that you may need. Once you've chosen the setup needed it will be stored so each time you use the meter you will have the information you need.

For the two "virtual" noise meters, the LAVG, TWA, % Dose and Estimated % Dose are displayed.

Octave Band Filters for Noise Control & Selecting Hearing Protection

The A,B and C instruments also feature real-time octave band filters which will measure the noise in 10 different frequency bands.

The octave band measurement is made at the same time as the other measurements and includes the overall level in each band along with a time history of the bands across the measurement period.

NR & NC values & curves on screen

The D variants add NR & NC values and curves to the 1:1 octave band measurements. This information can be useful in checking the performance of HVAC systems and noise levels in rooms.

Data Download

We'll include our NoiseTools noise analysis software with all versions of the Optimus Green, so you can keep a store and analyse your measurements.

You can upgrade this instrument to a more advanced version of the Optimus Green at any time, future-proofing your investment.

Environmental Noise Measurements

Comprehensive measurement capability

The overall Leq, Lmax and statistical Ln% values are measured along with a range of noise profiles providing a complete picture of the noise under investigation.

Real-time 1:3 Octave Bands

The B & C versions of the Optimus Green Sound Level Meter provide real time 1:3 octave band filters from 6.3Hz to 20kHz with the overall data stored alongside the time history or noise profile for each band.

Acoustic Fingerprint™ triggers and audio recording

As well as the VoiceTag™ recording, the Optimus Green instruments provide audio recording during measurements using the Acoustic Fingerprint™ technology.

Recordings can be started either manually or automatically when user defined triggers are activated.

Audio recordings can be stored either as Studio (96kHz/32bit) quality which can be used for later analysis, or as Standard (16khz/16bit) quality which can be used for replay and source identification.

Tonal noise detection

The D variants use either the ISO1996-2:2007 Simplified Method or the Cirrus improved method to highlight tonal noise in 1:3 octave bands.

Repeating measurements

Measurements can be either started manually or automatically by the measurement control functions.

This allows the instruments to make repeated measurements over long periods of time, ideal when the instrument is used with an outdoor noise measurement kit.

Outdoor Measurement Kits

Where there is a need to measure noise levels outdoor or over long periods, the Optimus Green sound level meters can be used with the CK:670 and CK:680 outdoor measurement kits.

These kits comprise a weatherproof case which contains the instrument and battery pack(s) along with an interface to external power and USB.

The kits also include the MK:170 outdoor microphone which provides weather protection for the microphone capsule and connects via a 10m cable to the main enclosure.

The CK:680 also contains a 3G/GPRS modem and GPS location receiver which allows the noise measurement data to be downloaded remotely to the NoiseTools software via the Optimus Cloud system
